Reddit messages exist in two forms: old-style "Reddit messages" (like email) and newer "Reddit Chat." Deletion works differently for each. This guide explains how to clear your Reddit message history and inbox.
Go to reddit.com/message/inbox. For each message, click the "delete" link at the bottom. Note: deleting a message from your inbox doesn't delete it from the recipient's inbox.
In Reddit Chat (real-time messaging), you can delete individual messages you sent by hovering over them and clicking the trash icon. There's currently no bulk delete for chat messages.
For inbox messages you don't want to see but can't delete, use the "archive" option to remove them from your inbox view without deleting them.
Go to reddit.com/message/sent to view and delete messages you've sent. Each message has a delete option — there's currently no bulk delete for sent messages on Reddit.
No. Reddit direct messages and chat are private between participants. They are not indexed by search engines and are not visible on your public profile. However, the recipient can share them.
No. Deleting a message removes it from your inbox/sent folder but the recipient still has their copy. There's no way to recall messages from another user's inbox.
Reddit currently has no native bulk delete for messages. You must delete them one at a time through the Reddit interface. Karmdit focuses on public posts and comments (which are searchable and higher privacy risk) rather than private messages.
